Anybody use Charmin toilet paper?
Hi,
We're getting our first RV next week. Is using Charmin toilet paper a really dumb thing to do?
We've read about only using paper that dissolves in a jar of water. Others have said it really doesn't matter.
Can a black tank be cleaned out? We've read of using ice cubes and other tricks to clean it out.
Thanks, Nancy and Phil

To clean your tank try the GEO Method - https://sites.google.com/site/cbruni/
Charmin is the only one that will Guarantee you to get the Dreaded "Tower of P**P" .
In 50 years of doing this RV thing Charmin is a No No in my Coach.

If it doesn't pass the Jar/water test I would not recommend using it

I tried Charmin because I also read that "it really doesn't matter." Apparently it does matter because our black tank gauge started reading full all the time, and we even have a black tank flush.
Started using Scott 1000, or similar and finally got the sensors cleaned off and the gauge works again.
I miss my Charmin... I think we'll try the Kirkland. Seems like a lot of people use it.

Scott's 1000 here. Noted on their website as ok for RV use. Available at Walmarts everywhere.

We have been using Costco's Kirkland brand for years and it works great. Never had an issue. It's also the same brand we use in our house.
Everyone thinks that ice cubes in the black tank makes a difference. That's a myth. It hardly does anything.
Watch the video.

Have used Kirkland, Scott and several brands that are "septic safe" with no problems. We rarely dry camp, so we have and use lots of water, water is critically important in the black tank. Are you planning to dry camp or stay at campground with water and sewer? Am also assuming u r not planning to leave the tank drain "open?" Dry camping has its own issues and requirements.

We have used Charmin Basic 1 ply for years, works great. Do not use the 2 ply, we use this at home as well with a septic system.
Works well for boondocking as well, just don't get crazy with it.

We use two ply TP in the MH most of the time with no problem, but we don't dry camp either. IT IS ALSO ALWAYS A BRAND LABELED SEPTIC SAFE. We also don't leave our black tank open and we use plenty of water. We also use "Happy Camper" in our tank.

Charmin Ultra Soft for the last couple of years. Did my own break down test in the jar of water and it worked. So far, no problems. Just remember ultra soft, not ultra strong!!
