I did not, probably because the videos I watched last year on how to sanitize did not talk about that. Not sure how I'd actually do the hose, tbh. I'd have to find a way to push water through it from the fresh tank and I don't believe I have a general hose connection anywhere on my rig. What would be the easy way?
I am 100% certain though that the hose was the issue. After replacing back to the old white Camco RV hose, the smell disappeared almost immediately and hasn't been back since.
My Zero-G hose is supposed to arrive today. It should be interesting to see if I have the same good luck as the others.
Thanks for the feedback.

I do use the blue version of the hose. I am not sure what the difference is between the grey and blue version but I thought I would play if safe as the blue version is speciffically mentioned as drinking water safe and rated for RV life.

I talked with the customer service folks and they say all the Zero G hoses have the same ratings!

I haven't noticed any odor from my Zero G. But I always flush it for a minute before hooking to my fresh water inlet. After use, I also hang it from my ladder to completely drain before putting it away. I don't join the ends together. Right or wrong I feel that breeds bacteria. I keep it in an open tub in a bay.

Yes, that's what I intend to do before hooking up to the system. We're full-time so there's never a day when it won't be in use, assuming we like it. Thanks for the feedback.

As I suspected. You are paying for the blue cover and the mention of for RVs on the box.

I feel like you are making this one way to complicated. Mix up a small container of bleach sanitizing solution. Dump in enough to fill up at least half of your hose. Connect the ends together and agitate it a bit. Let it sit for a bit then repeat agitation again.
Do this a few times so you know all surfaces of your have been in the solution. This might be excessive but will take less than 30 min.
Then flush your hose with fresh water to clear it out.
I find it odd that you do not have a outside water source on your RV. Or do you mean it has the "air compressor" style fitting? If so they make hose adapters for that, it is what I have hooked up to mine all the time with a garden nozzle on it. Also if you have washer hook up you could use that.

I added a male hose end to my fresh water tank drain with some rubber hose, clamps, and pvc fittings. I can just hook my fresh water hose to it when I go to drain the bleach water out of the tank.

Not trying to make it complicated. Just haven't needed to do any of that before so trying to figure out which one is the easiest (and cheapest) to do, since it's not something I'm going to need to do very often. I do have water outside but it's just one of those kitchen sprayers that they refer to as an "outdoor shower". As for the washer hookup, I do have that as well but it's not in a super-convenient location.

How did you get from the drain (which for me is a 2"(?) pvc tube) to the male end? Do they actually make something for that or did you cobble it together yourself?

Well the most simple thing is to put bleach solution directly in the hose, connect the ends together and agitate it. It takes no additional parts, tools, crawling under the RV, hook ups or steps.
Keep in mind the need to sanitize and how to sanitize will depend on your water source. If you are always running on treated "city" water, well it is already treated. If you are using well water that is a whole different variable.
I use a portable bladder frequently. If I am filling from treated water sources, there is nothing more I need to do to it. If I am filling from a well source, if I do not treat it things quickly begin to grow.
If you have a fixed hose in the outdoor shower then there are not a lot of options. Many come with a quick connect fit and it appears there are a few different styles out there. In my case it came with a coiled hose that extends about 8' and has the RV fitting on one end and a hose fitting on the other. I have attached an example.

We are on a well during the summer. My kids own the campground and I know he does put bleach in the system but probably not as clean as city water. That said, every time he has a customer complain about the taste/smell of the water, he goes to their spigot, draws off some and has them smell/taste it. They always realize the problem is in their lines! During the winter in FL, we are on city water.
Either way, I'm pretty confident we got it all but at least I know what to do with the hose next time. One question, still. When I put the water in my lines, they say to let it sit for 4-6 hours. Shouldn't I do that with my feed hose as well?
