Aqua Hot 250d

We have a 2022 Verona 36VSB.
In 9000 miles I believe I've been able to have 2 hot showers.
3 thermostats.
Boiled the antifreeze out 3 times.
Just got it out of an authorized aquahot repair shop and fired up the aquahot and in the morning the ground underneath the motor home is covered with antifreeze.
Aquahot denied coverage of our repair at their dealer/repair shop... so there goes another 500 dollars on this useless piece of junk.
They don't really communicate.
This thing is ruining our attempt at vacations.
Nearly froze the entire coach in New Mexico at 6 degrees.
Is anyone getting any satisfaction from aquahot on these things?
Should there be a class action suit filed?
I've read plenty of complaints and no real solutions from aquahot.

Over the many years of RVing I've been parked next to three different motorhomes that had a mobile tech working on their RV.

All three times it was an Aqua-Hot problem.

I've never had one and wouldn't want one based on all the problems I see on these forums.

We were looking at a Holiday Rambler with the AquaHot 250D V2 and I’m kind of glad we didn’t go with it. It seems like a good system but too many stories like yours.

That is highly unusual. Can you get the thing to aqua hot under warranty. Mine is twenty years old working great, I’ve replaced the 120 element, rebuilt the fan bearings just because, the 120 v relay burned up and the engine preheat pump failed at some point. So really only one break down in six years, but a fair amount of preventative maintenance. Not something I would trust a shop to do. My fuel gelled a little one night at 6 degrees and it was billowing white smoke when I fired it in the morning. Apparently anti gel has limits.

Yours is an older model and I believe much more reliable.
Part of the problem is that to switch to another brand involves
Renegade....who should be putting extreme pressure on aquahot.
And firefly who writes the control software for the entire coach.
I can't believe that all these manufacturers use this unit and have not held aquahot accountable.

If it's that problematic you should see if an Oasis can fit in your Aqua Hot bay. I know the 250 is a bit on the tiny side so an Oasis might not have the same fit.

We are on our second AH, both 450Ds, and would not own a coach without one. The OP has a 2022 year coach, the AH should be under warranty.

I have a 450 D in my 2020 Horizon, only Winnebago factory service touches it.
Yes, I drive to Forest City every spring for service.
Winnie does my Gen Set, Aquahot, AC, Slide, Jack services.
It works like a charm from day one.
46,000 miles of RVing and at least 250 days of camping nights.
I do exercise it every month if I’m parked at home, but that’s not much. I’m usually out every month except November and December.
I recommend go to Renegade factory service. It’s a nice trip. You can stop and visit the RV Hall of Fame in Elkhart. Make trip out of it. Elkhart Campground has lots of big pullthru sites with full hookups. It’s less than 20 minutes from Renegade.

I think you didn’t read where Aqua Hot refused to warranty it.

The OP's full sentence: "Aquahot denied coverage of our repair at their dealer/repair shop..."

So it's been inspected by a dealer, serviced by a dealer... of Aquahot? Motorhomes? I suspect there is more to _this part_ of the story.

These systems are not overwhelmingly complex but most folks, including dealer service techs, do not have the patience, access or skill to troubleshoot a failure, especially cascading failures. Repetitive failures (boiling the system dry 3x?) lead me to think previous service was done incorrectly or from an incorrect diagnosis.

I agree that taking the coach back to the Mothership may be in order. This has the whiff of incorrect or compromised installation.

I think a 450 and a 250 are worlds apart in reliability from what I have been reading and seeing posted.
I also think quality may be an issue in 2021 and 2022 at least.
I got it going again somewhat.
Only have it on when we have a real demand on the system and shut it off at night.....
That may work in the summer but fall and winter are a different thing.

I have the 250d as well and am on my 3rd thermostat. Seems like an annual event so I keep one in my stock because I know inevitably it will go out on me.

Can you share or take a pic of thermostat. AH charges like $60 for exact switch that can be sourced for $15 shipped. Maybe they got a bad run of thermo switches.
Sounds like OP has issue with thermostat and high limit switches. If it's actually boiling out"or down page" Not sure if AH is driving a device with these instead of pilot relay over amp on switch could cause welding closed or premature failure in 250D.

A BIG Or.... radiator pressure cap return tank hose broke and it's just pushing out fluid until its low and not boiling over. Boiling over tank would be bubbling out steam present , strong odor ect. AH used cheap un-reinforced hoses split easily came up dozens of times. The heat on top of AH is too much for cheap hose. I pre stretched some small coolant/fuel line to slide on radiator cap neck barb . Then to a repair hose barb and small section of the cheap hose, as my tank has soft plastic hose barb . I didn't want strong hose to compress tanks barb.

Yes, we keep extra thermostats
Antifreeze, the correct tools, funnels with hose and with fitting to fill from the bottom.
You really shouldn't have to do all of that on a new equipment.
Thanks everyone for your responses.
