Unhappy Aqua Hot Leak

Aqua Hot furnace Mod #AHE-100-02S Has a leak in the coil that wraps around the fire box. This is domestic hot water part of the furnace. Was told by a repair shop that the fire box is not sold separately. Must buy new unit for $10,500. w/o installation costs. Leaks only when the pump is on, which means it is a pin hole type leak. Anyone out there have similar problem? Advice is very welcome. This unit is in my 2003 Beaver Marquis, built in May 2002.

You say it only leaks when the pump is on. Does it not leak on shore water?

Did not try it on shore water. Water leaking out of fire box, leaking via the drain and the exhaust pipe onto the ground. I'm thinking pressure would not make a difference, no matter where it came from. Your info is very welcome.

Just be certain you have eliminated any possible sources of the leak outside the boiler itself. There are a number of fittings outside the boiler that can leak & due to the design of the big silver box, it will come out through the hole for the exhaust or the drain.

The major cause of a leak inside the boiler is freezing of water in the fresh water loop. It is a fact that if the leak is the fresh water loop then a replacement unit of some type is the fix.

You should join the forum owned by Roger Burke:

Roger is the top AquaHot tech in the country and will help you with your problem. The price you have been quoted is at the top of the range that I have heard. There are also remanufactured units and units out of salvaged coaches.

Good luck & let us know how it turns out.

I have exactly the same model.

It was my understanding that with the older AH units with the coil on the outside of the boiler, those coils could be repaired.

Agree that Roger Berke is the best source for reliable info on these units.

Will take your advice and get in touch with Roger. Unit was never in freezing weather. Thinking corrosion of the copper tubing. Thanks for your help!
