Are you using washer/dryer?

hi everyone, my washer/dryer is in place but have never been connected since i bought the coach. now i am remodeling interior (and repainting exterior) this question comes to my mind - shall i connect it and make it work (it's small don't think it will handle medium/large loads), or move it out to garage so to make a room and reduce the weight (sorta). how many people are really using it? whatch you think?

Hmmmm
This is a question that will get you responses from one of the spectrum to the other.
My end is I hate having the weight there and would take it out. Thom is on the other end of he likes it and wants to keep it. But it has only been run about 3 times for maybe 20 mins total for drying/getting wrinkles out of clothes.

It's a great question. I'll be interested in the responses.

We opted not to get one in our rig in favor of more storage.

My perception is that people here are polarized on the W/D question. MANY folks swear by them and even claim that the DW might not even go RVing without them.

Others complain of the small capacity, noise, space, etc.

We always found that walking over to the CG laundry let us get everything washed, dried, and folded in just a couple of hours and it worked for our needs.

Yep, this issue has been tossed around, no pun intended, many times. Some prefer the room others like not having to go to the laundry at a CG. On our 03 Excursion we had the Splendide which was limited but we used it for small items in conjunction with CG w/d. We have a stackable set in our coach and for the past year and a half never gone the CG w/d.

This may be a stupid question, but can you use it while traveling or do you need to be stopped? Same question for the dishwasher..

Thanks

This is where mine was. We ( DW ) loves the three large drawers in the galley.

I don't know how long you have had the coach but if it has been awhile and you haven't used the W/D then you aren't going to miss it. Take ot out as there is no sense in carryong around usless weight. If the coach is fairly new to you I would hook it up for a few trips before making that decision. You might find the convenience outweighs any perceived drawbacks.
As mentioned earlier there are lots of supporters of both having a W/D and not having them. I find them immensely convenient, even the small combo on our previous coach.

I would not use while in motion. Been on some interstates where the pot holes would most likely blow the door open. Better to be safe than flood your bus.

My wife loves to do the laundry (seriously) and I think real reason she wanted to buy a motor home was for the washer/dryer. We're just the 2 of us and 2 dogs so we have more than enough space for anything we want to carry with us. Weight? They weigh 120 lbs. In a vehicle that weighs almost 27,000 lb and can carry another 5,000 it's not even a consideration.

As for washing while driving.. I think they suggest having the grey water valve open during the wash.

I think it comes down to just whether you want one or not. She prefers doing smaller loads and not having to use campground facilities.

Not a stupid question at all. Here too there's a variety of views with several really liking the idea that they can do laundry during travel time.

We do use ours and love having them. Haven't used a campground washer or dryer since we've had ours.

We love our washer / dryer. We wash small loads and never need to use the parks washers. Saves a hole day. Put them in, push the button and see ya' later.

You would need to run the generator since it operates on 120v. I doubt that the outlet would be connected to the inverter.

Ron

That wouldn't be an issue as I usually have it on for the A/C here in Fl.
I haven't read anywhere that they advise not doing it. Sounds like a great timesaver to me..
