Atwood Electric/Gas water heater element question

I have an Atwood Electric/Gas water heater. It does not heat up using electricity. The gas works fine. How do you access the electric heating element?

Thanks!

Your 2010 Atwood 6 gal water heater uses 120V AC for electric element AND 12V DC ot control the 120V AC Power

Element is installed in backside of WH Tank....down low under a protective cover
Inside that cover is the 12V DC Relay used to trigger the 120V AC to the element.
Could be bad DC Relay
Could be bad/loose AC wiring to/from DC Relay
Could be bad element

We had to install a Hot Rod as all our manuals (one generic) discussed the electric hot water heater but we didn't have one. We use it all the time when on electric hookup! It has it's own dedicated plug to be plugged into the post or any outside outlet when using with electric hookup! If we used it with the generator we would also have to plug it into an outlet.

AND you 'routinely' completely remove that Hott Rod so you can drain/flush your Water Heater Tank .

Hott Rod/Lightening Rod are good 'supplemental' electric heating elements. Even though small (325W-450W) that do come in handy when AC Power is available.

But folks have a tendency to NOT drain/flush tanks routinely due to installation being in drain hole.
