ATWOOD GC10A-4E water heater

Hi, i have an atwood gc10a-4e water heater, i’ve put 2 new control boards on it.
it runs on propane just fine and reaches temp, but once the water cools down it won’t kick itself back on.
as stated before i’ve put 2 brand new control boards on it, and i’ve also put a new E.C.O, and a new T-STAT on the side of the tank.
any recommendations on what to try or to look at?

Following…similar but different issues. I don’t think mine has electrical heat option. It fires up and heats great on propane, but evidently shuts down overnight. I unplug/plug the connections on the board and WOOOSH!…it fires up and works. I tried to adjust the flame/air intake because it was roaring like a jet engine, but I can’t get it a perfect, blue, non-roaring flame. Maybe next time. All that matters for now is DW had hot water for her shower.

Here's the Atwood Water Heater Service Manual. Hope it helps. This is also a good video.

Does it try to restart or just do nothing? Do you get a DSI fault?

doesn’t try, no dsi fault. sounds like a control
board to me, but two $120 control
boards have a very slim chance of both being bad.

I’d try measuring voltage at the ECO and thermostat. Should be 12V in and out on all 4 pins. If it’s not there all the way through, something is bad.

T-stat Opens at 140*F to stop heating-----closes at 110*F for reheating cycle

12VDC should be to/thru Thermal Fuse (clear tubing) and TO the T-stat from Circuit Board (Brown Wire 1)

When T-stat closes 12VDC goes back to Circuit Board (Brown Wire 3)

Circuit Board then sends 12VDC to/thru ECO and to Gas Valve (Red Wire 4)

Voltmeter......follow the DC Circuit and check that Grounds (Green Wire 5/12VDC NEG and Green Wire 6) are clean/tight
