Atwood GC6AA-9E water heater

Took my trailer hunting 2 months back and was having trouble getting the water heater working. Today was a nice day so we went at it tooth and tong with no success.

The heater will light off and run for about a minute and then shut down. We checked wires for this and that and it seems like all is well until it re-lights and does the same thing over and over.

Anyone have an idea on what's going on. I'm at wits end myself

Spark electrode
It provides High Voltage for Ignition
Also is used for Flame Proving.....flame rectification if you want to look it up

Basically...milliamp current is generated that circuit board must detect in order to keep gas valve open
Loss of Flame Signal.....shutdown
Should trigger RED Fault Light at On/Off Switch

Could go thru cleaning of spark electrode, checking wire continuity, checking ceramic insulator, grounds etc
OR buy new spark electrode ------- GC6AA-9E has to be prior to 2004 version (Atwood 93868)
If no Fault Light.....circuit board could be failing

Dinosaur Electronics Circuit Board for replacement
Ignitor Board Index page

I went down to my local RV store and bought the two thermostats and installed them. It ran just a few seconds longer with the new from the old. Grrrr! I just ordered a new board and when that shows up I will install and give up the results.

You bought the wrong parts. Go back and read Old Biscuit's Post and buy or order the spark electrode / flame prover like he told you to.

I can't tell by the printed word how you sound in your posts. I kinda got the feeling that you were looking down your nose at me and I have since found out what the issue was and because of the attitude I really don't feel like sharing.

I can tell you that you and others were totally wrong. Have a nice life!
