Atwood hot water heater

Hi I have a 6 gallon Atwood hot water heater. Its electric/gas. I can get it to produce hot water for about 45 seconds and then turns cold. I have taken the burner apart checked for any blockages. I also had a spare 10 gallon circuit board and tried that to see if it worked but....same outcome. What can I do??

Do you by any chance have a winterization bypass on the heater? If so, check that the valves are not in bypass position. This happened to some friends of mine, and that was the problem. If the water is hot in the tank, then it should be some problem with the delivery plumbing--6 gal hot water can't disappear that quickly.

atwood hot water heater

Yes it does have the bypass on it and I will try to reposition the valves to make sure they are open.

I just went through it

If your bypass is not the problem you might try replacing
the diode that protects the brain between the brain and tank
right in front it might be going bad and its cheaper than the
alternative... mine would lite for a second and then shut off
imediately two times then had to turn it off for 10 and try again
they say cobwebs in the flame tube and this are the two most
found problems
