Atwood Levellegs

When I came to the park yesterday and began leveling I hit expand all then decided I needed to move the coach over so I retracted all and the left rear leveler started chattering or like a ratchet sound and the light blinks green but all of the jacks are retracted fully. Anyway I can't level the coach with the jacks because the left rear light is flashing green and none of them will deploy. When I tried just lowering the rear jacks it started chattering again. So I level the coach the good old fashion way with spacers under the tires. Does anyone have any ideas what that could be that chattering sound I think possibly it just needs to be serviced or lubricated I have never lubricated anything in that system. :what:

http://www.rvforum.net/SMF_forum/ind...?topic=27222.0. Could be a loose motor mount but I can't get down there to tell

The gearbox the motor is mounted to has a clutch and it is possible the jack leg may be stuck when retracted. It is normal for each jack to "clutch" (ratcheting sound) at the bottoming out of the leg assmy when fully retracted. Low voltage can cause the clutching on extend mode so keep the voltage good when operating the system. If this is not the case, I would suggest you first try and manually free the jack by the nut on the gearbox. Once it is freed up, use the jack key pad and check for normal operation. Lubricate the jack legs with a dry silicone spray when they are close to, if not, fully extended.

Atwood 24 Hr. Help Line 800-884-7012

Coach Net provides 24 hour support on Atwood products at the following number:

800-884-7012.

I also discovered in visiting with Atwood today about the system that the leg that was giving me trouble was a problem with the control board or 'brain' thought the leg was completely deployed. A 'glitch' that could have been reset at the campsite if I'd dug out the operating instructions and looked at the troubleshooting guide.

I highlighted the section that was specific to my problem: "Leveler Continues To "Clutch" Had I done what that said, it would have cleared the problem and I would have been able to use the Levelegs System to level the coach, instead of the old fashioned way of driving up on the Lynx Blox (see pic of front tires) to level the coach.

Anyway, Atwood says there is no recommended service but if I wanted to do something, to WD-40 the Motor Nut to keep it from rusting, and if I wanted to dry silicone the shafts. They were very helpful.
