Atwood Pressure Relief valves

Hello,

The pressure relief valve on my Atwood water heater is leaking. It leaks even when the heat is not on so I am quite sure it is the valve. The problem is I can't get it off to replace it. I'm assuming it twists off counter clockwise. Has anyone else had this issue? If so how did you get it off?

Thanks

It is screwed into the tank
It is brass T&P and tank is ALUMINUM

Need to remove the exhaust shield so you have full access to the valve body
Small pipe wrench or channel lock pliers
Slightly tighten to break 'thread seal' then unscrew --- yes counter-clockwise

Your profile shows 2001 RV so it will be VERY tough to remove
Need to heat tank and cool the T&P
Fill with water...heat cycle then place bag of ice on the T&P while you remove exhaust heat shield (gloves..it will be hot)
Open faucet hot side to relieve pressure///remove drain plug so hot water doesn't continue to heat the T&P CAUTION: Water is HOT
