Hot or cold, if hot it could be a reaction from anode rod in water heater. If that is case flush it out and fill with fresh water.

Sounds like the available water has a very high sulfur content..Filtration and a water softener system may help.

Thanks to all. It is both hot and cold water. We did the bleach and will let it sit overnight then drain everything tomorrow

Thx.

Don't forget to replace all filters once you've flushed the chlorine.

Take care,
Stu

our class c water heater does't have an anode-the hot water side (hot or cold) smells like sulfur. I think I left the water set in the heater too long. have used heavy cloroxed water in fresh water tank to fill the heater, sloshed it around, left it 3 days. no better. repeated the same + first used a wand to clean the inside of the heater. only slightly better, any thing else to try? thanks this is my first time to ask. chuck

I agree with this. One campground we like has a lot of sulfur in their water supply. I always go there with a full fresh tank & don't use their water. First time we went there, I didn't know this. It took FOREVER to get all that water finally flushed out of the system.
