My awning motor seems to be a little
low on torque, anyone know if this motor
has adjustments to increase torque.
This started about two weeks ago and I
can not find any reason for the motor to
seem weak. My coach is a 43' DSDP 06 model.
Any suggestion on this motor problem. Thanks

Hi Paul, It would be a help if you could identify the make and model of your awning. There are different motors in different models, for example 12 volt DC in a Care Free or 120 volt AC in a Girard. There are people with your type that may be able to offer some good input once the make is known.

About 3 years ago,my A&E Weather Pro, patio awning, started stopping, when extending or retracting it. Sometimes it would take a dozen or more tries to get it through its cycle.
I took it to North Trail and they tapped on the forward end of the aluminum tube (that is where the motor is located) with a rubber mallet. After several attempts to open and close, while they tapped on the tube, the awning started to work perfect.
The tech said that the brakes, common to the awning motor, tend to stick from lack of use.
They called Dometic to have the motor replaced. Dometic said it shouldn't happen again and didn't need replaced. I was a bit skeptical, but the awning has worked fine for the last 3 years.
