Basement door latches sticking
Some of my latches are difficult to operate and some won't re-latch when the door is closed (even when slammed shut) so I would appreciate any suggestions to cure the problem.

For my latches that were sticking, (the latch would not reset after use) I sprayed with silicon lubricant. For the doors that did not close and latch properly I realigned the latch hooks. I have one on my propane bay that someone before me bent the latch hook mounting. I have to stand next to the bay door, open the latch release and press on the bay door and release latch release to lock that bay door. It looks to me that that particular door didn't latch and someone tried slamming it shut and bent the assembly.

Basement door latches sticking
If the suggestions above do not fix your problem, you may need to buy new latches. Try RB Machining. Their #661-269-3233, or search for motorhomelatches.com will bring up RB Machining. I bought one to be sure they would work on my motor home. It did, and I ordered enough for all my bin doors. Less cost per latch when you oder larger quantities. I replace when one of the old breaks, have two to go.
You will need to remove the cover of the handle on the inside. Suggest that before you remove the cover that you tape the handle on the outside to the bin door to aid in reinstalling the cover later. Be sure to use the new screws supplied with the new latch.

Just take apart and spray with your choice pf Favorite Lubricant - often they will also need to be adjusted, but usually Lub will take care of it.
Best of Luck,

I assume you're talking about when it gets cold outside? The grease in the latches gets thicker when it gets cold outside if this is your problem. When the temperature warms up use some cleaner and clean out the latching mechanism and replace with silicone as others have mentioned here, should fix your problem. Let us know how it goes
