Bathroom light switch cuts power to antenna

Hey all,

We just discovered that turning on the light in our bathroom cuts reception to the TV BUT only on certain channels. We've had the coach for about 10 months (pre-owned) and just found this recently so you can see we haven't watched a ton of tv. That said I do like to keep everything working as intended.

I'm not sure there is a "quick" fix or any fix but I'd like to know if anyone else has seen this and or know of any sort fix. I'm guessing that I could (if needed) run a new line to the antenna power (easier than getting new power to the bathroom) but is that what I should do?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

You probably do not need to do any wiring. You probably do need a new LED light in the bathroom. There were (still are) a lot of cheap LED lights imported with a very fast rise square wave as part of the power control circuit. They can put out radio frequencies well up into the television range. Because they are close and strong they override the over the air signal.

Can also happen with fluorescent lights. Usually fixed by replacing the transformer in the light.

When I had this problem it occurred right after replacing my 12" florescents with M4 LED substitutes. They suggested putting a magnetic choke over the power to the fixture. Just put it on but with limited testing it seems to be working.

I had a problem like that with an el-cheapo PSW inverter. It messed with the transmission shift pattern because of the interference it put into the 12 volt system.
