Battery Compartment Paint ??????

I am looking to paint the floor of my battery compartment. There is some rust, not bad with some minor problems from battery acid. Does anyone have a paint recommendation that can stand up to the harsh conditions found in the battery compartment?

I f you can get your tray out to scrap and clean you can try this rubberized coating on tray.
You can also use something like this which can be found in a boat marine shop or maybe Home Depot.
Once you have the tray taken care of you could place the batteries in a battery box for better control of acids.

You can try rubberized chassis undercoating too. Probably at a local auto store.

The spray coatings designed as a truck bed liner are a good choice too. If the proper prep work is done, that stuff is really tough and impervious to acids as well.

I just did mine as well. Went to Kragens and picked up a quart of Herculiner bed coating. Turned out good, but I have no idea yet about longevity.

I wire brushed the floor in the compartment and then washed it. I allowed it to completely dry then I scrapped it and brushed it some more. I allowed the surface to additionally dry.

I went to Lowes and bought a commercial brand paint spray paint that is directly applied over rust. I allowed each coat to completely dry and I believe that I applied 3 to 4 coats. It finished up looking great. I have a battery install article in this thread I believe when it shows the results from the paint job.

I then cut to fit some slip stop rubber matting, doubled up that stuff, laid it in the tray and set the batteries on the mat. I used the slip stop becuase of the holes ....

I was looking to achieve insulation and cushioning with the mat.

Take a look here!

It's still looking good!
