First time RV owner first time ever being around a fifth wheel. We have a 2022 Jayco Northpoint 377RLBH. We have had a hell of a time trying to figure out everything and the dos and don’ts when it comes to RVs. If we are hooked up to use your power is our battery disconnect switch supposed to be off or on. It is set to “off” And has been that way since we got it January 3. We are full-time so it has been one thing after another. Quite disappointed with that actually. Any help would be much appreciated

Anytime you are using the RV, even when plugged into power, you want your Battery disconect switch On. This will allow the converter to keep the battery charged and healthy. When not plugged into shore power it allows all the 12v appliances and lights to get power from the battery
The primary reasons to turn it off is to disconnect the battery for RV storage or when replacing batteries/doing maintenace.
Note that in some RVs, turning the switch off doesn't disconnect everything, it's not uncommon to find the propane leak detector to be wired directly to the battery. So if you store your RV for a while, it's still a good idea to physically disconnect the batteries to prevent them from getting completely discharged (leading to bad batteries).
It’s a lot to learn. I’ve been trying to get as much knowledge as I can. I’m pretty handy and I pretty much work on all my machines , but RVs were completely foreign to me. I’ve learned a lot in the past 2 months thanks to forums like this and the awesome people on them. Thanks again!!!
