Black Tank Vent Pipe Sealing at the Roof Question

Hi All,
I have a Coachmen Apex Nano 191RBS Travel Trailer that has a sealing issue. The Gray and Black Water Vent Pipes going out the top of the roof are not sealed. I.E. the pipe just sticks through a hole in the roof with no sealing material taking up the space between the outer pipe diameter and the hole in the roof. There is a vent cap on the roof, but because there is no seal between the pipe and hole, tank fumes are able to flow into travel trailer.

I have looked at multiple web pages, videos, etc and no one has a recommendation on the best sealing material to seal this airway up. Does anyone have a recommendation for best practices?

I have multiple seal materials available BTW. Dicor (Self leveling and non self leveling), Butyl, caulking, etc. I also have the 360 Siphon Vent Cap and plan on installing them for both tanks to help with pulling fumes from the tanks as I am a bit sensitive to the fumes. Any experience/knowledge of best practice in this area would be appreciated.

Thank You, Gordon

I don't know about "best" practices, but you've got some good ideas there. If it were me, I would lean towards the self-leveling Dicor if the gap isn't too great. It looks like the 360 Siphon Vent Cap has a base on it that would completely cover over the gaps and eliminate the need to put sealant at the pipe exits, themselves. The base of the vent caps would be sealed by the Decor when you install them. I don't think there is such a thing as anything that is the "best". Best is like beauty. It's in the eyes of the beholder.

The 360 siphon vent caps worked for me, they give the opportunity to seal around the pipe before gluing on the cap. I used a Silkaflex silicone like product that Winnebago uses on my fiberglass roof around the pipe, then when that was dry I installed the siphon vent cap in a bed of self leveling sealer that Winnebago also used. Every manufacturer has a spec sheet showing what sealant to use and where.

If the gap is not too large, use the Dicor. If it is too large, you could use EternaBond tape to go around the pipe
