Bugs in readout area of Sharp Microwave

2008 Hr Endeavor

Replaced the Sharp microwave last year. The original never had this issue.

Mosquitos are finding their way into the display area.

I am an electronic tech and can take the thing down and cure the problem but wondering if anyone has found a way to do it without major surgery.

Wish I had taken pictures of the old one.

Thanks for any help.

Sounds like Sharp went all cheap and neglected to put a screen on the cool air intake. If I am understanding you, and I'm an etech myself, actual mosquitoes are finding a way inside the MW and accumulating between the electronic display and the front glass?

If that's the case, what I'd do is bite the bullet, remove the MW and glue nylon netting to any openings in the case. Then I'd spray bug spray all around inside the compartment, soaking into the wood, or find some other method of discouraging any flying bugs from entering.

OH! Just thought of something. Do you have one of those fancy schmancy RVs that has and exterior kitchen fan? I bet if you do that the door is ajar or broken or not closing right. Mine would snap open when I switched on the stove fan, and snap shut when I turned it off. If that is open without a strong airflow, bugs could get in that way. So check that.

Jim, thanks for the feedback.

The state bird here in Florida is the mosquito so keeping them out is impossible and even worse since we live on a lake and next to a shallow non moving canal.

I have not tried to use any blower yet but might give that a try.

Good idea on checking the flap. I have/had a magnet on it and have not checked it in a long long time. I will give that a look.

Taking the beast down is not fun. Yep, we have a fancy smanchy 40 footer and the microwave is well built into the thing. I changed to external venting years ago. Added the magnet to the flap then. Too hard to get to the little latch that came on it.

Thanks again for such a quick response. Maybe I'll get off my duff and take a picture. Maybe.
