Can propane bottles be fixed/upgraded?
I have two standard RV bottles from 2016. One day they work fine and next day they leak when connected to the shore connection. I can smell propane outside at the connection and sometimes hear the leak. Usually only after I use them a few times successfully. I’ve also tried them on a separate gas grill and same thing happened. One day fine next day leaking at the tank valve it seems but maybe not.
Are there adjustments that are made when filling tanks that can cause a leak and can I readjust at home?
Is there such a thing as propane company repairing a leaky valve? Is it cost effective?

Propane bottle " re-certification " ; propane shops check the exterior of the tank and replace the valve , cost varies .
For a 5 gal bottle it's about equal to an exchange program at retailers like Walmart..
For 7 and 10 gal , it's cost effective..

I should have asked
Do the propane hose ends on your RV have an O ring on the end of the taper ?
Check them for nicks & look inside the tank valve for damage to the corresponding surface.

You are Opening the Valve Fully...correct?
Propane Valves should be FULLY Open/Close
Have you ID WHERE leak is?
Valve, Outlet, Pigtail Hose etc
*Soap bubbles
Inside the Outlet of the OPD (valve) is a seal
ACME Green Nut internal 'stub' presses against that seal
*Check if seal is damaged (if YES...need to have OPD Replaced)
***If this is a standard 20# LP Cylinder......exchange it at Blue Rhino LP Exchange

Propane tanks recertification.
We had our two 30LB propane tanks recertified at a propane supplier. It was something like $25.00. We normally are able to fill at the Indian Reservation tax free. We wanted to be able to fill anywhere if traveling. C all a propane supplier for a price.

New propane tanks can be refilled for 10-12 years, depending on the State you're in. How many extra years do you get for recertification?

Visual recert is good for 5 yrs.....then recert again every 5 yrs until cylinder is damaged
In other words......every 5 yrs until you decide to replace it

No I don’t open it but 1/4 turn. It seemed like with my gas brill turning ut wide open caused the flame to s risky be lower and less hot then when I opened it more and that was with 20gal tanks. This is a 30 gal tank. Does that still apply? If so what is the theory about making sure tank is wide open?

It's not a theory because the valves are designed to be opened fully to backseat the seal. Doing that prevents the packing around the shaft from leaking.

THIS^^^^
Propane valve 'seal' when fully closed
Propane valve 'backseats' when fully open
Valve shaft has a packing gland that 'seals' shaft during movement ---fully open/closed
NOT designed to completely seal if only partially open
LP Pressure can be 100# --- 250# under normal conditions
*Hotter the air temp the higher the pressure can be
Shut off valve seat and full open valve backseat ARE designed to fully seal under those pressures
