Unhappy Can't get dead Voyager AOM-7694 out of the dash!

Hi
We art on our way to full timing and on the second day the backup monitor broke. It is a Voyager AOM-7694 that came with our 2006 National Tropical RV. I have searched and found many who have the same problem but no solution I could find. It appears to be contained in some way. Prying from the front hasn't worked but I am afraid to pry hard. There is a cover over the back with no accessible hardware that I could find. It is in a place that prevents seeing it and feeling anything. Has anyone removed one of these? I have new monitor that should fit sort of on the way from RVCams.com. I have already decided that a sawzall would damage the fragile plastic dash but I am more and more tempted to use violence the longer I try!
One quick addition- I stuck my phone camera back there and it almost looks like there are a set of melted spots as if it was bonded with heat in spots. Is that done? How is it undone?

Think that is the monitor I have.

The trim bezel just pulls off, then behind it is a button on one side you push and that releases one side of the monitor. After that it just pulls out.

Kahoona-

Manual is here. Perhaps the part diagram will help.

Looks like the trim ring has to be removed, it probably just pops off. Use a plastic tool to pry it loose.

Nice. Thanks. Here are pictures front and back. What seems to be a bezel is very solid and won't budge with some large tools. Looking at the rear views which I can only see with the phone, I can see the Flush Mount Bracket with the bottom cut away for cables. The places where the bracket would screw in are concealed by this plastic bracket(s) that seem to have been secured by melting some tabs in place. The audio is installed similarly. I'll keep trying but I don't want to break the aged plastic dash. Cutting the monitor out in pieces is looking more attractive by the minute!

Kahoona-

That does not look like the flush-mount bracket... as if the installer removed the old monitor, cut the "pocket" for the cables, and press-fit the new monitor in place. I think the "melted" spots are part of the original coach dash.

I would pull the radio out. That should give you access to the rear of the monitor. Then, try pushing the monitor out from the bottom, where the cables are.

If the radio has two holes on each side of the front face, about 1.5 inches apart (vertically), then it is likely a 2-DIN-high unit and can be pulled with a 2-DIN removal tool (search Google), or some small, stiff tools or wires.

It would be nice to know what the coach came with in that spot. Sometimes the model-year brochure has a picture of the dash. The 2007 Tropical brochure I have does not show a rear-view monitor at all in the dash.

This is all original. Yes. I think that the heat welded trims are part of the dash and blocking access.

Pulling the half dead audio is the next project anyway so I might as well do that.
Thanks

I agree, and the factory trim bezel is wider than what you have, and covers the flush-mount bracket.

Hi
I got it out by prying it. It was held by industrial velcro. Care must be taken. The plastic bracket is not removable easily. Hope it fits the new one or I will have to carve the bracket.
