Carrier air v blower motor replacement
Hello,
Edit: blower wheel not motor
I have a 2007 holiday rambler presidential 34ft travel trailer with a carrier air v a/c unit. The blower wheel broke and I found out the company isn’t in business and can’t locate anything that will fit. I really don’t want to replace the whole system as it’s just a cheap plastic wheel that needs to be replaced. There are two numbers on the wheel: 51CM501514 and 51CV500164 further research tells me the part number was 38-50034-00SV in the parts list. Here are some pictures of it. I’ve done so much research on forums and can’t find a suitable part.

Couple of suggestions -
1) if the hub can be squarely pressed back into the wheel (hopefully in the same position as originally manufactured AND guided by the smooth part of the wheel bore) then mix up some epoxy and glue it back in.
2) measure the diameter, depth of the wheel, number of blades within the wheel, and bore size - and go shopping for one just as close as possible to the one you have. Three critical most factors - diameter, # of blades, hub bore. Width not as critical. Likely you won’t get exact on the critical factors - just get as close as you can.
FWIW - rotation of this wheel is CW.

This is something that I researched last summer as I have an issue with blower wheel noise. There are a few posts stating that Carrier Part : 38-50034-00SV can be replaced with Dometic part: 3313107033 blower wheel. It is however a touch smaller, but does work for folks. On the other hand, there is a direct fit / replacement blower wheel by Lau in Indiana under part: 020487-06. This one is made of steel and fully balanced. I will be placing an order for one once I get a few other things off my plate.

Would certainly go with the Lau - I spent time in their lab learning about the design of their then (1980ish) only 1 of 2 AMCA certified wind tunnels in the US.
Don’t let the name fool ya - they are a US based company (although I don’t know where their manufacturing plants are now - sad thing is, shipping blower wheels and housings is almost the same as shipping a bunch of air).

I will be ordering the Lau blower wheel for sure. No more plastic for me.

Thanks everyone I will check those out now. I already have and tried the first recommendation and it didn’t work. It’s so close to the same size but didn’t move any air through the ducts. Maybe they sent the wrong one

That is unfortunate the first model did not work out. Let us know how things go with the Lau model.

Make sure you get the correct rotation for the blower wheel - a squirrel cage blower wheel will move about 1/3 of the air running backwards as it will running forward.

I just checked with three RV sites that have Dometic part 3313107.033 and the reviews are positive. Several people confirm via reviews that this works for their Carrier Air V AC units. Perhaps you were sent the wrong part.

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking. I literally read the comments and two people had the same carrier air v that I have and said it worked perfect. The only thing I can think of is they make two versions of it…one is a lot more thin. So they either sent me the wrong part or those two people had the other slim version of the carrier. The fins were pointed the right way as the original it was weird

Carrier does have two versions of the unit... the Standard model and the Lo Profile model. These models include cooling only units, heating/cooling units, heat pump units and Low Profile upper units. The cooling only units are available with free blow or ducted air delivery. Cooling units with heat strips were available for free blow only. Low Profile units were available as Standard, High Capacity & Heat Pump equipped. However, the standard models, no matter what configuration they are in, have the same blower wheel as mentioned in the prior messages. Carrier part 38-50034-00SV, which cross references per many as Dometic (3313107033) and the Lau part also mentioned. The Low Profile models, no matter what the configuration.. heat pump, w/o heat pump, ducted etc, have an entirely different blower wheel that could not possibly fit the Standard model as per the Carrier Rooftop Aire V service parts list that I have. That blower wheel is also the same for each Lo Profile configuration.
I would suspect, given this information, you were sold the wrong blower wheel.

Update
Thanks everyone for all the help. Prior reply wow you know a lot about these units that’s so cool. I was able to put the metal LAU version in the old broken plastic ones place and it was tight but doesn’t rub and air blows the same as before. Hopefully the heavier fan blower doesn’t cost more but it is fixed and anybody having this same issue with a holiday rambler presidential with carrier air v HC they can buy that part and it will work. Cheers
