Clear2O Water Filters

Has anyone had luck with these filters. They are supposedly good 1micron filters, but both mine and my buddy's larger filter housing cracked at approximately 1 year.

I'd stay away from filter systems like this and go with a "generic" system that accepts standard size cartridges.

The following unit accepts standard 10" x 2.5" filters: 2-stage filter housing. The clear housings allow you to see how dirty your filters are.

A 2-stage system typically uses a sediment filter and a carbon filter.

I use one like this:

adapted to garden hose fittings
With a .5 micron filter cartridge in it.

I went to their website and saw 2 things:
1) This unit comes with a 10 micron filter, not a 1 micron filter.
Many of the 10" standard Cartridge Sediment Filters that are available have lower micron ratings.
2) There are no specifications listed like operating temperatures. Was this unit possibly used outside and exposed to freezing temperatures?

Also, it is stated that on their website that this unit is a Pre Filter and to be used in conjunction with an inline filter.

Correct, the larger filter is a 10 micron pre-filter and a standard RV inline filter screws into the base of the larger one. This second filter takes it to 1 micron.
