Coleman AC compressor problem

I have dual Airxcel units Model #48253C969. I have an issue with the unit in the kitchen. The blower runs, but the compressor does not start unless I lower the Thermostat temperature a couple degrees. After the compressor starts I can reset the temp and it continues to run. This occurs usually when the outside temperature drops and is about the same as the inside temperature.
I don't have this problem with the bedroom unit!
Is there an outside air temperature sensor that would cause this?

Thanks

Joe

Not to my knowledge, outside air has nothing to do with air conditioner operation until outside air is below approx. 40F; then the unit will freeze up.
I would be looking at the thermostat, corroded connections or loose connection, on either end of the wires.

I agree with Ray, that sounds more like a thermostat problem than an A/C problem. You could try swapping the thermostats and see what happens. They should just plug into the wiring harness. If you are getting bad temperature readings, pull the vent louver closest to the temp sensor and recrimp the wires. Corrosion on those is a common problem with wonky thermostat issues.

I'll check all the connections and swap the thermostat. Since this problem occurs infrequently, it may take awhile to determine if it has resolved the issue.

Thanks
