Confused about residential refrigerators

If I wanted to change out my 18 yr old Norcold with a residential refrigerator, and we do very minimal dry camping, do I need to add batteries and an inverter or can I just run off the 120 from my generator? It would be a 9 -10 cu. ft Whirlpool.

It should run fine on the generator. Buying an inverter and battery set up would get pretty pricey and depending on the fridge you may need a true sine wave inverter making it more expensive.

Our MH had a 1500W modified sine wave inverter and three 12V house batteries when we bought it. When the inverter/charger quit it cost $500 just to have it rebuilt. It does however run our Samsung 20 cu ft fridge no problem. We only have tried that while the rig was running and did not need to run the generator for house a/c so I can't comment on how long the batteries would last.

So long story short if you have a decent genny and don't boondock much I don't see a need for the inverter set up.
