Converter fan running constant

Had the camper 5 years, but it’s never done this. WFCO 8955 panel and the converter fan is on all the time. Battery is new from last year, but I haven’t load checked yet.

Not much plugged in - fridge and one outside light and the inside lights on. Nothing else.

Is my converter dying or something else going on? What should I check (headed to check battery voltage now)? No reception at site so it’ll be tomorrow before I can check back in. In 5 year, I don’t think I’ve ever heard the fan run before at all.

Several lights is enough for my fan to come on.

Anything that runs on shore power has nothing to do with the converter. It makes 12 volts for pumps, lights, and fans.

Did the battery ever freeze up. That damages it beyond repair.

Your converter fan runs to keep the transformer cool. It should have a temperature sensor to turn the fan on and off as needed.

Verify you have good air flow(no dust or blockage) if all that is good could be a bad temperature sensor.

Disconnected battery and tested it - 13.2V.

It absolutely got well below freezing a few weeks ago during the snow storm, but I can't imagine that alone would be enough to torch a battery?

I should also mention that my lights are all LED, so it's not much of a load. And it did continue to run even when I turned off everything in the camper.

I'll open it up and take a look at the fan and see if it's clogged with dust or anything like that.

Disconnect the battery, plug in the shore power and see if the fan runs constant.

Wait a day with the battery disconnected and check the voltage, with NO shore power on.

13.2 is right after you took it off charger converter, check it after 2 hours. Also check battery for water, if it has a shorted cell it will drop in volts rapidly.

Gotcha thanks I will check tomorrow, after it's been off a full 24 hours.

If the battery is toast I should get a free replacement. It's an interstate that has a decent warranty.

Voltage was 12.75V after 24 hours off the shore power, and with having run lights and a few other 12v items for a couple hours.
