If I'm not mistaken, the Onan 5500 does not have a coolant tank it's only air cooled. At least the 5500 I had on our Itasca was that way. Check your fuel filter and fuel pump. When mine got hot the fuel pump would fail so I replaced it and did not have any more problems.
