dash HVAC blower inop

We have what apparently is the standard Evans Tempcon unit. We have been having a couple of issues with it which I will troubleshoot if can get the blower working. When it first failed I checked the 20A fuse in the panel under the driver's seat and it had blown. I replaced it, and the replacement blew. I checked the voltage between the two fuse terminals and it was 12+ VDC. I think that means a dead short to ground somewhere in the system?

Possibly related, we recently had a rodent in the coach. I'm afraid it is possible it caused the short somewhere. I have the control panel out of the dash and can check the four wires going to the fan switch, but don't know what I am looking forward. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Have you had the blower motor out ?

Can't overlock the possibility that there is something jamming up the motor and blowing the fuse.
Nest , carcass ...

Certainly a possibility, but I am trying to check the easier things first.

And thanks for the attachments; very useful!

If it turns out to be the blower, I don't know where it is or how to get to it. I assume it is aft of the firewall, but I know of no way to access that area. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Many coach manufacturers didn't design the dash with servicing in mind .

Luckily Newmar gave access and when required I can have my blower motor out in under 10 mins .

Picture is taken looking up from the stepwell , wiring is to the speed resister block , motor is across the bottom of the photo. .

I wish. I looked up from the stepwell and everything is sealed off.

Didn't look like it at first glance, but I will certainly try.

Thanks for the tip.
