Dash HVAC EMERGENCY

Does anyone have any idea where I can get the HVAC control valve my 2003 National Islander? I've called half dozen places and no luck. I was told by on guy that it's a control valve from a car, but he had no idea what make or model. Any and all help is appreciated, don't be shy!

Unfortunately you can barley see where the valves are. And to remove them you have to do it by feel. Then cut the short heater core hoses and replace them when put back together. Their located in a small enclosure at the top right side of the blower box. I'll have to take a pic after I get them out.

Probably an Evans Tempcon system

select your dash controls for your system
Evans Tempcon > Troubleshooting, Diagnosis and Repair

see
Evans Tempcon > Our Products

Parts can be found by searching for the part number

That site by itself as mcssl.com doesn't work. The full URL is here:

Most likely what you have is an expansion valve system. You shouldn't have to "cut" anything but you may have to disassemble a few things to get at it. If your system is similar to the RVs I've looked at, you will have 2 heater hoses with a 4-way valve (looks like an H) and 2 more heater hoses coming from that to the blower box. These are your heater core hoses. Yes, they likely are in the way of the expansion valve, but hopefully they are flexible enough. If not - then they SHOULD be just generic coolant hose, and other than losing some coolant, you should be able to remove them and just push to the side to give you the access you need. You can extend the hoses from the valve to the airbox if you want better access behind them, that won't hurt anything.

Now the AC part of the system... You will need to evacuate the system (or has it already leaked out?) and when changing the expansion valve, you will know that is what this is when you see that it is an "L" shape with a round "hat" on one end, that has a very thin copper tube coming off of the center of the hat. This is clipped on (may be covered in goo) to another hose, and you want to avoid crimping the thin hose on the replacement. One of the AC hoses will connect to the expansion valve, the other will connect directly to the airbox.

Once you have it removed (it has threaded connections with o-rings) from the heater box and the hose, you will want to flush out the airbox with acetone to wash out any crud that is inside it. An AC shop can do this for you. You also want to replace the drier canister (likely back by the side radiator on a diesel pusher or wherever your condenser is located) and then flush the condenser too.

My system, the drier bag had come apart and all these little grey balls were everywhere in the hoses and connections... That was what was clogging up my system and I ended up replacing one of the high pressure hoses b/c of the blockage... Hopefully yours doesn't need that kind of help.

Pictures are worth a thousand words, what does your coach look like?

I see often that folks are recommending to flush out a/c components that include the condenser. Flushing is great...but not for the condenser.

Please consider not taking my word for that...but do a Google search regarding the flushing of a/c condensers. Can't be done. The passages on modern condensers are so small that if there was some type of particulate it more than likely would end up blocking passages. Replacement condensers are not that expensive in the long run. A good source, and where I bought mine was from Cold Hose. Just match up to a similar part.
