What are "they" and who is "sold out"?

We have plenty of stock of the Fridge Defend.

Take care, Paul

For those coming along on the ride, I’m now happily camping in South Carolina, heading to Georgia, with temps a balmy 60 degrees. I still have not been brave enough to turn on my fridge, plus I wanted to make sure there was absolutely no chance of anything still being frozen.

The good news is, I opened up the back of my fridge and everything is perfectly clean. No sign of any residue or a recent problem. Yeah!

I’m thinking about testing it out when I arrive in Georgia later on this afternoon as I’ll have plenty of time, and water, to monitor things.

OB - thanks for your step by step instructions. I feel like you have been my guardian angel since I began RVing.

Paul - thank you for increasing my knowledge of fridge safety. I am still planning on checking out the links you sent me as soon as I’m in one place for more than a few hours. This little experience has taught me that a problem can happen to anybody.

And to everyone else who has commented - thank you so much for taking the time to help a stranger.

Here’s a picture of the back of my refrigerator, and a more pleasing photograph of my current location. I feel very blessed.

South Carolina and a balmy 60*F ............ NICE!

Backside of fridge looks clean

One thing I would do is remove that fire shield around burner and have a good look/
Then put it back on and fire it up

This is what a leak looks like.....yellow residue from dried sodium chromate

5:00 PM, Georgia. Fridge on! So far, so good. I’m following OB’s instructions for turning it back on, and I’m following Paul’s instructions to make myself comfy with a snack and water hose (and fire extinguisher) for the next 45 minutes.

Delightfully boring. Keeping my fingers crossed that it starts cooling.

Looks like a nice day....besides your camping!

And yes burner/shield is on right side of fridge

It's tough to tell from the pic but are those wires intertwined near the zig-zag tubing? If so, consider securing them away from the tubing so one does not touch the metal and burn through.

Duh. Of course. When I wrote that I was thinking of a Fridge Defend being added to a potentially malfunctioning fridge and the Fridge Defend killing the power rather than letting it overheat.

Obviously a corner case...

It works!!!!

Yahoo!!

I’ve had it running for 4.5 hours and I’m getting ice! Since my food is still safely in coolers I decided to shut the fridge off when I went to bed. Figured I’d sleep better.

I think I dodged a bullet…..

Good news, great way to start a new year

Now it is time for the preventive maintenance to now allow this situation to occur again.

Happy New Year, Paul and Mao
