Does the house battery charge with coach switch off?

Hi all, I’m curious about something; if your plugged into shore power, and your coach main switch is off, does your house battery still get charged ?

If you mean the battery disconnect switch, the answer is no, the batteries do not get charged.

It depends on how your coach is wired. On my 2001 Alpine, the house disconnect disables the HWH system and the DC fuse panel. The inverter/charger is still on and will charge the batteries if connected to shore power. It's easy enough to check. When plugged in, turn off you switch and then look to see if the inverter/charger is still working.

Yes, check your inverter/charger with disconnect OFF.

My Alpine is like Andy's, and I even used a voltmeter to check the charging with the disconnect OFF. Other coaches, however, must have the disconnect switch ON.

The OP doesn't have an Alpine.

It's a Jayco Redhawk.

Yes the USE/Store or Main switch needs to be on.

There is no reason to switch it off if shore power is present.

Our Country Coach is set up like this, the house battery does get charged from shore power although the house main switch is turned off.

Turn it off then put a voltage meter on the batteries. Chuck

OP here, I know this is an old thread, but I purchased a BT battery monitor and plugged in my RV with the coach switch off and it was charging.
