Dometic AC CCC Conversion Board

I ordered a new Dometic penguin II cooling unit and am having a hard time getting a CCC2 to CCC conversion board for the new AC so that I can still use my 5 button thermostat with my other 2 Dometic ACs. I have had a conversion board on order for over two months so that the new unit will be compatible with my current five button thermostat. Does anybody know if I can take the old board off the AC that I am replacing and put it on the new Dometic penguin so that it works with my thermostat? Just not sure when or if I will get the conversion board so I thought I would ask if using the old board would work. The current units are AC/heat pumps and the new unit is just going to be an AC. Thanks for any input.

Brian

There's a very recent thread on doing just that. Do a search, it's probably still active.

Conversion kits have not been available for about six months.

You can reuse the older control board on the new AC. Go on-line and find a copy of the installation instructions. Do not attach the yellow wire (medium fan speed) to the old board. The instructions tell you to cap it.

Remember to set the dip switches and reinitialize the thermostat.

When putting the old board back in, the directions don’t say anything about hooking up a ground? The 2 wire(red)that was connected to ground on the new board that came with the new unit, wasn’t used on the old board. The directions didn’t say anything about it. Shouldn’t something be going to ground? Thank you

Are you referring to the red wire that plugs into the board using a two-pin plastic plug and the other end is a ground lug attached to the air-conditioning case. If so, this is a temperature sensor. Don't use it. Use the white wire from the old air-conditioning unit that went to the same red connection on the board. This is also a sensor but is compatible with the old board. This is for heat pump operation. It is explained in the conversation instructions.

Yes that’s exactly what I was talking about. If my new unit is AC only, do I still need it?? Thanks much!!

You won't need it if you only have AC.

So I just installed my new Penguin II AC only unit today with the old module board from the previous unit. Everything seems to be working great with my original five button thermostat. There were a couple leftover wires, but I’m assuming they are for the medium speed(yellow wires) and heat pump(blue wires) which I did not connect. There are two blue ones and two yellow ones that I did not use. Does this sound correct? Thanks again!
