Dometic AC Issues

Hello!

I am wondering if anyone here has already fought this battle and can offer some input. I just got my 2001 Komfort 26TS back from the shop where she had a full seal (roof and sides) as well as a new motherboard for the fridge which was failing to work on LP but was fine on AC.

First trip out since the service, I notice the AC is not working. I thought it worked when I bought it, but am wondering if I was just feeling cold air because the fan blows so strong... I have done some tinkering with it thus far and I am fairly certain it is not offering any cooling, just blowing air.

When I turn the thermostat to Cool, it sounds like the compressor is starting up for about 2 seconds, then it stops. About 20 seconds later it tries again. This did it for several hours on the camping trip (while plugged in to hookup) and now at home while plugged in at all.

Looks like most say that it will do this when a capacitor is busted or needs to be replaced, but I am not seeing anything obvious thus far. I took the AC panel off and I unscrewed the viewing area to see a fuse, pulled it and it looked good. Put it back and same issue.

I don't think it is a thermostat issue, because it is kicking the AC on as soon as I get the temp to be below the current ambient temp...the AC just cannot seem to get going and stay on. The fan blows always, never stops.

Someone said I may need to get on the roof and pop the cover off to see if it needs to be blown out - is that a possibility? I am a pretty hefty dude, not sure I am able to be on that roof without going through it. May have to convince the wife.

I would really like to give it a stab myself before taking it back into the shop as I have not yet financially recovered from the last bill!

This is a dometic duo therm part 57915.621 per my manual

Going to add photos and a video here once I can get them uploaded.

It's the capacitor, get the same/like one and replace it.

What he said. Start capacitor and PTCR or potential relay, and while in there, I would replace the run capacitor, too. They're cheap, and at this point the originals are old. You have to pop the top to get to them.

Don't keep trying to run it. There's a thermal switch inside that's opening after so many seconds of trying to start with the rotor stalled due to insufficient starting torque.
