Dometic air conditioner heat strip

I purchased a new dometic air conditinor with a heat strip; the thermastat does not regulate the heat temperature; when I turn the dial to heat, and if I set the temperature to high the heat comes on fine; but when I turn the temperature down, I can here the control click but the temperature only goes to low heat, and some heat still comes out. The Colman air that I had before with a heat strip would cycle the heat on and off and maintain a reasonable temperature in my motorhome.
Also when on air and putting the fan on low the fan slows but not to much. there seemes little change between high an medium fan speed.
question is this normal for the domitic to work this way? I bought this air conditioner at camper world about four months ago, I was up north a couple of weeks ago and it was the first time I tried the heat.

Your Customer Support - Dometic air conditioner came with a 3 year warranty. It's best to visit an authorized Dometic repair center with your problems. Voiding the warranty(inadvertently) is not good. I have occasion to phone Dometic customer service with some issues. I found them to be quite helpful and knowledgeable.

I called
1-800-544-4881
customer support; the gal that answered the phone said all they did at customer support was supply parts, and could not help me; suggested i take the motorhome to a dealer to have it checked.
What I am after is as the original request;
Is these things normal for a dometic air to operate?
The Colman air I had worked much better in its regulation of the heat.
And yes I will take it to a dealer the first chance I get.

Sorry you had a blow-off from That person. I'll stop recommending Dometic customer service from now on.

I sent an email to the factory support service center.

This is the answer I received from dometic factory support service center; In my opinion a non answer; I asked if the condition I had was normal; It simply looks like a form letter to me.

With out actually seeing the product, it is very hard for us to determine the cause of failure. We recommend that you take it in to a service center for them for diagnosis & repair. Our Authorized Service Centers are listed on our website at Welcome to eDometic or you can search by phone at 1-800-544-4881. We also maintain a dealer listing by state/province at RV.com - The Perfect Destination For Any RV Traveler. Click on the "Resources” link at the top of the screen and then click on “RV Dealer Locator" at the left side of the screen. Then enter the country code as USA or CAN for Canada and the appropriate two-letter state/province code and also either a city or zip code if possible. That should present a listing for you.

If you are in need of any Dometic refrigerator or air conditioner or A& E awning parts you can call us at 1-800-544-4881 or purchase from any dealer or Camping World location.

If we can be of any future service do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for choosing Dometic product lines.

Finally received an answer from dometic about the thermostat; bummer, bummer; the thermostat does not control the heat; had I known this before I bought the dometic,, I would have bought a Coleman, the thermostat in a coleman does control the heat ( and it costs less); at least the coleman in my last motorhome did.
