Dometic duo therm a/c's

Ok. Pulled the Alpine out of storage. When parked last winter both ac's worked perfectly.

Front ac works as expected. Rear ac I get nothing. I've cleaned all the connections. Replaced the circuit board. Now the 5 button recognises it but I still get nothing. No clicking. No hum. Nothing. All circuit breakers are good.

Any suggestions? About ready to bite the bullet and take it to the shop but I'm sure it's something simple.

If the relays on the control board do not respond, you have a 12 volt control circuit issue. Check the data cable connections on both ends and use a electrical contact cleaner. Good luck and keep us posted.

First step is get a volt meter and verify voltages.

Assuming you have manual if you changed boards.

If not stop until you have a copy.

Confirm ac voltage at ac before and during startup

I have the manual. I'm getting back to it this weekend and will update the group. Out of prep, i've bought the two new capacitors, cheap and have them now.

Ok. Where I got to today.

110v to the control board.

I believe I am getting info and connection to the ccc. It is picking up and showing zone 2 on the ccc. It is also showing the bar underneath which indicates that it's sending the signal to the board and getting info from the temp sender that says it's on.

What I'm still not getting is any fan or compressor. Have 110 at the board but no 110 at any point after that.

Seems odd at this point. If I disconnect the cable from the front unit, zone 2 disappears from the ccc.

Is it new ac time? Any more suggestions out there?

That's probably normal ... mine is daisy chained ... thermostat to unit 1, unit 1 to unit 2. Break the chain (disconnect thermostat to unit 1 and neither 1 or 2 will work).

Have you tried a master reset on the thermostat?

I've reset the thermostat...tried pretty much everything...that statement of mine was a thought which didn't come out right. I left some words out...

Seems odd at this point, i can tell it's communicating because If I disconnect the cable from the front unit, zone 2 disappears from the ccc. that tells me the comm cable is good.

Is your control board inside of a metal box or on the side of the unit? If it is in the box, have you pulled the cover on the control box and checked the fuse? If it is good, it sounds like you have a bad control board. Hopefully it is not since these are o longer available and if you have to upgrade to the new control board both control boards and T'stat will also have to be replaced.

Check for 12 vdc getting to the board Yes the CCC can see the board but without we vdc you cannot control it.

I would have to pull up a schematic as I do not remember. If you have a return vent straight down under the unit you should be able to access any wiring harness to the unit. Check wiring connections there and look for 12 vdc feeding the control board from there also. If you do not have a return vent iving you accss the wiring will be in the area of the control board.

Just a thought, I lost a few nights sleep over last week. 5 button Reset requires thermo off ,press mode & zone buttons, turn thermo back on while holding buttons down. LCD should display FF. On mine, front AC would come on for about 10 sec. then zone 1 display would go blank.
