Dometic NDA 1402 Ice Maker
Is it OK to remove the ice maker from my 1402 refrigerator and still have the freezer work normally? I need to repair the existing frig because I don't think a Samsung RF18 will be able to be installed it is place because of all the wiring and plumbing at floor level and wall in the coach. The Samsung is about 6+ inches taller than the Dometic unit. Plus my side windows are too small to R&I either units, my entry door is wide enough but my overhead cabinets are in the way (RF18 is approx. 70 inches tall) and the dealer says there is a better than 50% chance that removing the windshield (new just this summer) will be broken/cracked during removal because it is VERY securely glued in place.
So I want to eliminate the ice cubes and water in the door (that only work occasionally) and all of their associated parts on the back side of the unit and get back to a basic refrigerator. The RF 18 would be about $2500 installed IF everything went right. A new Dometic unit would be close to $6000 installed.
Rock and a hard place...…….yup!
Suggestions?
Thanks and have a great day.
