We have a 5 week old NDA 1492 side by side refer unit that has been replaced once and repaired twice.

Has anyone else had problems with this, or similsar units?

Sounds like a control board, have you tried to fake it out by moving the slide sensor up or down the fin inside of refrig. Just check wiring may have something loose heat of day may cause opening of ckt.

I would recommend you check the installation of the refrigerator. If installed improperly you will get this reaction. It sounds like the venting is not right. The cooling unit absorber coils should be very close to the outside wall and there should be no open space over the top to the refrigerator except for the straight up venting area. If there is an open space or too large of an opening at the bottome you will not get good airflow and a baffle or two may need to be installed. Use a flashlight and mirror to view form the outside vent cover area. If you suspect a more definite issue remove the roof vent and look downit if it is vented through the roof. If the refrogerator is in a slide out then a vent fan may be needed to help the issue. Good luck and let us know what you find.
