Some things never change...

Had a similar problem and replaced the control board with a Dinosaur one. Works OK now.

Guitar Strings

I use a guitar string to clean the orifice and a bottle brush to clean the burner tube.

I did one better. I was workings on our pool heater and thought the thermocouple might be bad. I didn't have a spare one so I connected a 1.5v battery in it's place. Fooled the gas valve good!

My DW and then teenaged son said the fireball was easily 8 feet tall and I came out of the pool equipment room looking like Wil-E-Coyote after the bomb. I didn't smell the gas because my nose had gotten used to it.

A few thoughts...Contact spray will not harm plastics, whereas carb cleaner spray will melt most.

Then, the OPs symptoms are often caused by the thermocouple. This is a low resistance device and if it's terminals become corroded over time, the resistance can increase and cause the 10-20 minute run time, then shut off symptom. Cleaning and re-crimping it's terminals can restore operation. It must be positioned in the flame correctly as well.

you can also get motor spray which is just like contact cleaner from hobby shop as they leave no residue and drys fast...about 6 bucks a can at my shop...carb cleaners leave residue ...non chlorinated brake cleaner from auto stores work also..jeff

I had a very similar problem on my Norcold. It turned out to be a bad board. Pull the cover off your control board and examine it closely. Mine had a noticeably brown spot and a couple of discolored resistors. A new board made it like new again.
