I have a Dometic side by side model NDR 1292 with an ice maker. Here's the problem, on setting 3 the fridge will sometimes freeze food on any of the lower shelves. There are two switches, Climate Control and Low Ambient, both are in the off position. Is one of these causing this problem? Or do I have another problem? My freezer will not keep ice cream hard, is this common?

Recommend you install a circulating fan in the fresh food compartment and not over pack the interior. Ice cream hardness is relative, also once ice cream softens it takes a below 0 degree temperature to harden it up. Try to keep the ice cream hard untill you get it in the freezer. THe freezer should maintain fairly hard ice cream with no problem. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks for the info, RV Wizard. Where would I find one of these fans and what powers them?

Okay, Bought the fan at CW and took a 8 day trip. The lower shelves didn't freeze, but the cottage cheese ans salsa froze on the second shelf. The setting was on 3 and the fan was on bottom shelf towaeds the back? What position should the white slider be in, top or bottom? The fins also iced up. Any suggestions????

It is normal for the fins to ice up. THis is how it will pull the heat out of the area. The thermistor position will alow the unit to run longer (colder) as you push it down the fin.
