Dometic Refrigerator door hinge help please.
This is a 2019 Dometic Americana II Model DM2882RBFX Top Freezer Absorption Refrigerator. I made a bonehead mistake and damaged the bottom refrigerator hinge part that attaches to the door. Dometic customer service told me it’s part of the door and not replaceable. I’d like to remove it and see if I can salvage it with epoxy. I’ve removed the screw and you’d think it would either pop off or slide off the bottom, and it does have some wiggle but it won’t come off. So before I start trying to muscle it off, has anybody figured out what’s holding it on?

[QUOTE=whybother;7018702]Not exactly sure how it comes out, but this looks like that hinge:
Edit:
This video seems to show it just slides out. Maybe you need to remove the decorative panel first? (Skip to about 5:50):
That's a good video and I missed it, thanks. My non-reversible hinges are a little different from his, and fastened to the door different, but it makes me think this one "should" just slide off the end too. Tomorrow I'll get a thin blade putty knife in it and see if maybe the screw has pulled the plastic down into the screw hole and that's holding it on. If that doesn't do it there's something else inside holding it on. It is odd that Dometic says it's part of the door and not replaceable. You're correct on the aftermarket parts, I actually already ordered from Amazon.

Looking at your photo, I believe that if you slide the large decorative panel (looks like it's a wood cabinet face?) all the way out of the end of the door first, the hinge should then slide out.

I got the hinge bracket off of the door, it doesn't slide off the end, with a little muscle it pops off of the fridge door frame from the top. I would prefer replacing rather than repairing, I have an aftermarket replacement hinge coming tomorrow, I'll follow up with how that works out.

The bottom hinge on my LX10 broke. I happened to have a piece of 1" aluminum on hand so I fabricated one. Sorry the pic is upside down, I don't know how to flip it.

So much for part of the door and not replaceable.

Right? Remember the days when you would call customer service and you'd actually get... you know, service? Such fond, distant memories...

Exactly. Bad information is worse than no information.
