Dometic RM2862 / RM2662 Refrigerator?
I have a Dometic RM2862 refrigerator in my coach that was installed in 2014, this model has the temperature control button on the front panel with 5 levels of cold to coldest shown by LED lights on the right side of the panel.
Today while cleaning out the refrigerator I noticed the thermistor temperature probe was laying in the defrost drip pan at the back of the unit and not clipped on to the cooling fans as was normal on the older models. I could not find a clip for it on the fins either.
On the older models the temperature would be controlled by sliding the clip up or down the metal vane, not with a front panel button like mine has.
Does anyone know where / how the thermister should be mounted in my model, or should it just be laying loose in the drip pan like I found it?
thanks
Ike

I would imagine it is suppose to be clipped to the fins.

That is my guess too, though I would really like some confirmation.

Yep, should be on the fins. look for the clip in the condensate tray, or under the bins on the bottom of the refer box..it has to be in there somewhere.

Thanks, can you clarify exactly where on the fins, since the old version moved up and down to change the temperature, so it would seem this one with digital temperature control should be in a fixed position.

Come on someone must also own this model and could look inside to see where the thermistor clips and post a photo.

Just a thought. Buy a “Clip the Tip” adjustable thermistor which stick to the side of the fridge near (not on ) the fins. That plus my fan modifications have made my Dometic tolerable!! Not perfect but at least functions as intended.

Why not clip it about half way up and see how that works. Then move it if you need to.

I may end up having to do that, but the coach is stored in a shed on the family farm about 20 miles from my house, and there is food in the fridge (planning on taking a short trip after Thanksgiving). So I don't want to mess with things too much, and don't get out there every day to check on it.

Ok, it is working where it is, I wouldn't mess with it till it doesn't cool enough.
