Dometic to Coleman conversion

I have a 2004 Monaco Dynasty and I have a front Dometic AC starting to go out. When it’s really hot out it starts tripping breakers. I started looking into replacement of the AC unit. I’m interested replacing it with a Coleman AC unit and started to do some research. I found there is a conversion kit available however I believe my Thermostat is not compatible with the conversion kit. The kit specifies I need to have a Dometic CT thermostat which I have a Dometic Comfort Control thermostat. Has anyone ran into this or done a successful conversion?

Can I just replace the thermostat with a Coleman thermostat? I am being told that even if I just replace with a new Dometic, that my current thermostat is not compatible with the newest Dometic units and would have to replace it anyways. Part of the reason I want to convert to Coleman. From my understanding, Dometic is known for making updates to their systems that do not support the older systems and then you end up having to replace it all where as Coleman does not do this and you can use any Coleman thermostat on any of their AC systems. Correct me if I’m wrong.

I also have the Aqua-Hot as a furnace. Idk if that makes any difference with the thermostats. I have 2 separate thermostats to control the 2 different AC units and zones so I believe that makes each one a single zone set up. Thanks for any help and intel!

I replaced both Coleman units in our 11yo Tiffin. We had to replace both thermostats as they were not compatible with the new Coleman units of the same type and capacity.

Thermostats can 'wear out'. They are electronic parts with capacitors, switches and connectors, all of which suffer the ravages of time.

Just FYI, we HATED the new AirXcel thermostats that went from buttons for temp and switches for mode to all buttons. You have to step through every function to go back from fan on Hi to Lo. Additionally, they could not be viewed from below horizontal due to the non-adjustable screen contrast. If the thermostat is high and you or the DW are short, they are a major PITA.
