Erratic fuel gauge.....solutions ?

Went to gas up couple of weeks ago and it was filled to the top and than some. Gauge read full. Drove 200-300 miles and gauge went to 3/4 full and stayed there. Should have dropped to 1/2. Stopped for a day and the gauge still showed 3/4 full.

Other dash readouts seem fine. Not an Actia dash. Think the sender/float inside the tank got misaligned due to the full fill up ?

One suggestion is pound the metal fuel tank with a hammer. Not yet tried this.

Suggestions, please........

I had mine do the same thing this week... while driving down the highway... I knew I had 3/4 tank of diesel, but suddenly it just dropped out to empty. I figured it was a fuse or failed sender or something... but when I pulled over into a truck stop, turned the rig off, then started it back up, the gauge went back to 3/4 and stayed working the rest of the trip... down to 1/2 tank...? Sometimes I think these rigs have sneaky gremlins hiding in the closets waiting to mess with you...? LOL Jim - 2000 Tradewinds 7371 diesel pusher
