I just installed one of the fans and I could not pick up a ground from the fins with the clip. I had to run a wire from the clip to the ground at the light. For some reason the fins on my refrig. are not grounded.

Wow- only $1.30 each!
Are those 12v?
The specs say the air flow is almost 22 cfm.
Seems like enough for a little fridge like mine...

Yes they're 12 volt, about 3" by 3" by 1". They are replacement computer fans, and come with a 8 pin connector you have to cut off, but they'll work fine inside the fridge. And with that pretty blue glow!
These actually blow more cfm than the original blue fridge ans this discussion is about

Okay Guys and Gals-
Here's the update I promised.
The hot (85f), humid days hit us recently here in coastal Maine-
The unit has been on continuously since April 20th (3 months, 10 days).
Here's what it looks like-
If one fan is good, two gotta be better- . Right? Or Eh? (I've been around too many Canadians lately). The cfm's have doubled to around 34 cfm.
It took about an hour to defrost and install the second fan.
The fan saga continues- Stay tuned

NO ICE UP- !
Before the fan install, The right side (where I mounted the fans) would be frozen solid.
I'm thinking about mounting one in the freezer to prevent ice in there. Since the area of the freezer is about 1/3 the size of the fridge I would only have one of the two fans running all the time-
What do you think about that idea guys and gals?
I bought a couple extra when I ordered this fan-

My Suburban frig has run non-stop since early May. I thought I was lucky to have a frig that wouldn't have fin frost, then last week, I put a pizza box inside and it frosted solid. Since thawed out there has been a few short ice drips, but no frost. We have been in Seattle - where it has been cool - since June 4th.
What factors contribute most to fin issues?

Generally, the higher the humidity inside the frig, along with the warm moist air entering when the doors are opened, the more frost you will have building up on the fins.

I have resisted getting into this thread, but here is my story... I had a huge amount of problems with the refrigerator keeping cool while in AZ. So I contacted Dometic guy that the factory suggested, he changed out the button thermo switches for the fans in the back to a lower temperature. And they ran nonstop for the next year. So the fans were toast with in a year. So contacted the Dometic guy at a rally and he changed out the rear fans and put back in the factory recommended thermo switches. So the frig went back to not cooling well.
So at this point I went to work. First I put in a small 3" 12V computer cooling fan in the back beside the other two fans. This fan is on all summer. (I live on solar and is imperceptible on battery draw.) This little fan helps to encourage a chimney effect for more natural updraft. I installed a toggle switch on the bottom vent cover.
Secondly, I put override switch (beside the other toggle in the bottom vent cover) for the original manufactured thermo controlled fans. So I can turn them on and just leave them on through really warm periods of time. So I have two switches I can leave the small fan run all summer and turn on the two larger fans at time of intense heat.
Thirdly I took a piece of light plastic (.08 like on the screen door) cut to fit the top portion and with electrical tape for cushion, and duct tape for a hinge, leaned it against the fins to force the air through the cooling fins and not just out the vent. This made a huge difference because the majority of the vent opening, you will notice is below the fins so the air circulating up the back never passes over the fins.
Fourthly here is a cheaper source for the inside fan. It is wired to connect to a computer, so the guy on Ebay is getting these fans adding a wire and alligator clip for the extra 10 bucks.

All of the modifications put together didn't run me $15. and the refrigerator keeps its cool even in the hottest weather.
