Fan-Tastic Vent Fan Inop

My Fantastic Vent Fan just hums but doesn’t spin fan blade. Either blowing air in or out, fan blade does not move. It spins freely when I spin but the fan but the motor just hums. I crawled up on top, and made sure the dome lid switch operates up and down. Do you think fan motor is shot?

Somewhere on the fan blade there is set screw that tightens on the motor shaft. If the motor is running the set screw is loose. It happened to me once and the set screw was on top of the fan and nearly impossible to find.

Hope thats all it is.

Got It Working

With your help I tore into it removing the motor and fan blade from the motor shaft. The set screw did not come loose, but it is possible that the fan blade was set too tight against the motor housing so that it was rubbing just enough to prohibit spinning freely. Also, the dome lid could have been out of adjustment between automatic and manual. Thanks for your help. Sometime I just need a little encouragement from someone who has been there before.
