Fantastic Fan Upgrade?

We have a small 12 volt fan in the roof vent in the bathroom. DW was talking to another RV'er who recommended swapping it out for a Fantastic Fan which would be more efficient at sucking out condensation from showers etc. Looks like the conversion will run about 300 bucks using Camping World's $39 installation offer. Anyone have an opinion if a Fantastic Fan would really give a big improvement over a regular fan?

My experience has been that Fantastic Fans are...well, fantastic.

If you have a roof vent with a small electric motor driving a small diameter fan, then yes, you'll see a considerable difference.

Cliff, yes, standard 14 inch roof opening. Sounds like I'll be rolling the bus in to Camping World down the street.

Fantastic makes a model #1200 that is 3 speed and only blows out. That is the one to use for the bath according to the rep at Fantastic. He recommends against the next model with reverse because the black tank outlet is normally close and you can blow the fumes back into the interior. You can buy this model online for about $150 and install it yourself. It is pretty simple with the only semi difficult part being the trimming of the interior trim to fit the ceiling. Half price is good!

I purchased mt first unit with a Fantastic fan last year and was quite surprised at how well they work. The first time I had it on I opened a window, felt the breeze, and thought 'I didn't know it was that windy out there.' It wasn't.

They are what the name implies. Mine are now 13 years old and aside from an occasional switch wearing out they have been high performers and rock solid reliable.

When our MH was new I had them install a fantastic right over the bathroom sink to exhaust all the bath moisture. Has worked very well.

I have 3 of them ... work as advertised and make a huge difference. However, as someone else noted, uni-directional (out) is all that's needed. If you going to use CampingWorld for install, this Maxxair is also very good.

MaxxFan 4000K - Maxxair 00-04000K - Fans - Camping World

and for the bath this one from Fantastic is more than adequate

Something else to know about Fantastic Fans, all the models are physically compatible/interchangeable, so you can upgrade an existing basic Fantastic Fan, to one with more features without having to change out the topside stuff.
I took our basic fan from the kitchen / living area and upgraded it to bi-directional all from the inside.

Then I took the old basic inside fan unit and the new rooftop parts and replaced the bathroom fan. So I had the original fan and new cover in the bathroom, and the new fan and original vent cover in the kitchen.

Like the remote of the MaxxAir. Handy for vertically challenged people.
