Fantastic Vent Thermostat Disables Fan Below 60 Degrees


I put a Fantastic Vent 802259 upgrade kit in my model 4000, which added thermostat and reverse features. Now I noticed that the fan will not work when the temperature gets much below 60 degrees, even if the thermostat knob is turned all the way down.


I called Dometic and they say that it is designed so that the thermostat will not allow the fan to work below 22 C/71.6 F degrees! (My experience is more like 60 degrees.) They said no way to bypass it, and there is nothing they can do to help me. I really have no confidence in their tech support, but I can save that for another post.


Does your thermostat shut your fan off at about 60 degrees?


Has anyone else bypassed the thermostat, or figured out some way around this?

My question is why would you want to run a fan below 60 degrees??

Should be easy enough to bypass. Jumper wire across the stat will disable it permanently, if you go to the trouble of adding a switch you can have both.

I would go with a switch, if it's convenient.

Thanks. Inspite of what Dometic said, I figured I would just jumper across as a last resort. Switch is a good idea. Just wondering first if something is wrong with my unit, or there is some better way to adjust it.
