No bypass is to winterize water system w/I filling WH w link AT.
Most water systems you don't need to do anything except turn off pump when hooked to city water.
There is likely a valve in the wet bay city water / tank fill...that allows filling tank when hooked up vs using gravity tank fill that many MGs have where you just stick a hose in an open port.

As stated, on the front of the hot water tank there is a high limit blow off valve. If the water gets too hot it will automatically open and release the pressure. The only sure way I know of to check that the tank is full is to flip the valve up and check for water. It should come out of the flip up high limit valve. If it doesnt, there is no water in the tank. Opening a sink tap tells you little to nothing, and gambling that the tank is full can get expensive.

Filling a water heater when filling water tank
Do you have a city water connection on your rig? If so, you could connect to this prior to leaving home. You would also have a bypass lever to fill tanks automatically this way. When leaving for S.P. camping we usually connect to house water and fill the HWH using this water. I open the HWH popoff until water runs out then bleed off air out of each faucet. I would then turn water off if I didn't want to put water in the tanks. I almost always take 1/2 tank of freshwater with me now to our S.P. since theirs is hard and full of iron.

Make sure you bypass lever is off so aren't filling your tanks. I assume you travel with empty tanks? 6 gallons in the WH wont hurt anything. Happy Camping!

Another time to manually open the high limit valve on the water heater, during winterization. Release the pressure BEFORE pulling the anode rod (assuming your tank has one) or opening the drain valve. Otherwise, you may get a shower.
FWIW, I always check the pressure valve for water flow before turning on the electric heating element.

Do not open the pressure relief valve ar the top of the tank. The system needs the air cushion to allow for expansion. Just leave it closed when filling the system.

I am always confused :-)
Drove to the dealer today and had to head back due to a flood. Had to do a 3 point turn on a country road :-)
