Filling Fresh Water Tank with Water Pump On

We have some rather poor water pressure where we are at and often use the pump to use water from our tank to get enough pressure to do more than one thing.

Question:

Does turning the water pump on while filling the tank act as a pump to pull water out of the water system or even a water tank?

It would make sense it does, I just don't want to burn it out if I am wrong.

Your water pump is rated for continuous operation, and should be fine unless you run your tank (and the pump) dry.

Hi Don, if I understand you right about your pump running when you open the city water fill........When I fill the fresh tank, I have to turn off my pump off before turning the fill valve, or my pump also runs, circulating the water.

I don't know about your DS, but with the 2 Winnebagos I've had, with the pump on and the fill valve in the fill position, the pump runs continuously pumping water out of the tank and
right back into it.
However, if you run your pump with the valve in the city water position, it may help by providing water from your tank along with the city water from the hose.

The inlet to the water pump is not connected to the city water inlet in any way. It either draws water from the fresh water storage tank or from the winterizing fitting.

The outlet from the pump, as well as the city water inlet, can be directed to either the fresh water tank or the MH plumbing.

If the valuing of the system is set to supply city water to the MH plumbing system, running the water pump will just draw water from the fresh water tank when it runs. If the city water pressure is above the cutoff setting of the pump, it won’t run. If it is below the pump cutoff pressure, it will just try to draw water from the fresh water tank.

There is no standard way to connect the city water inlet and water pump in series.

Good Luck!
Wil
