Fridge fan(s) Upgrade

Decided this is the week I will install the new fans in the upper vent for the refrigerator. My question is, is it possible to just tap into the wires on the existing one(really noisy) and use the temp control that is already there.

If you are replacing what is there, you really should be able to do that. If you're adding fans, you may be able to do that, depending on the current draw on what you would be adding combined with what is already there. More detailed information would be needed to know for sure, in that case. (Nameplate on the fans, fridge model number, etc.)

Thanks to all...Old Biscuit, I did get lucky. I pulled the top vent cover off and there is a wooden baffle across the lower 1/3 or so of the opening. I used my phone to see down behind it. The original fan was located just below the opening and under the fins. So I removed a portion of the baffle to get access to the fan. Once I removed it and loosened the wires I was able to unplug it from the wiring. I installed the two small replacement fans using the same mounting points as the original one. Cut the ends off the old fan wiring and reused them on the new ones. installed the wiring and all seems to be good. Replaced the baffle material using foil tape, so if need be I can take it out again. Tested the old fan and it started quiet, but in a few seconds it was squealing, so am glad that's done...Am going to keep an eye on it for a few days, seems when I get used to something making a noise and then it don't any more I sometimes worry about it...

Update I pulled the upper cover off to see if the fans were actually running and they were and the air flow across the fins and out was good. Put the cover back on and could actually feel the air coming out. Still have a upgrade to the mount to do, but will have to wait until I can get to town...

Thanks for the update and resolution

Airflow is critical to heat removal which in turn allows better condensing of Hot Ammonia Vapor into a liquid...more liquid/more absorption capacity/more cooling
